Golden age browser game review

Picking the faction is only part of the equation to success, but how they work together determines the overall victory of their Alliances and Kingdoms. As offensive specialists, the Knights have extra options for trainable Infantry and overall have a higher fighting capacity than the other factions.

Their special building, the Arena, also gives them the opportunity to produce weekly more soldiers than the other two alliances, giving them a greater offensive advantage. More recruitable troops means more trainable troops, and thus, a potentially larger army. As defense specialists, the Ibero have fuller and stronger wall units than the other two alliances. Furthermore, as defense specialists, the Ibero are preferred for defending major spaces, such as wonder zone chokes.

Rhine specializes in resources, but otherwise have no offensive or defensive advantage. On the plus side, there is a solid and useful hint system that will often help you out. It starts with a gentle nudge on what to do before calling time on that approach and just telling you how to solve your issue.

With Gibbons on art duties, you are served up a looker. It has a unique art style that runs through the core of the game, its locations and cast.

Soundtrack and voice acting are all solid, though we did hit a few audio mixing issues…but it all adds a nice extra layer to the whole thing. Beneath A Steel Sky is a strange beast. It feels like it has one foot in and the other in so the end result is a mixed bag that tries to link this void in time.

It manages to pull it off for the most part, but there are a few rough edges. It has just enough nods and winks to make you smile. In The Golden Age, you will also get to meet a variety of characters; each with its own distinct voice over, which fits each character like a glove. As usual, Awakening: The Golden Age is an extremely entertaining game.

To us, it is not as mind-blowing as The Redleaf Forest ; still, it is indeed an exquisitely made game that is much better than many of the fantasy HOPAs out there.

The gameplay in The Golden Age is on the less challenging side, which is arguable predictable for an Awakening game that is meant to be relaxing rather than overly-thrilling. Despite the slightly simple gameplay, both the hidden object scenes and the puzzles are more intricate. The hidden object scenes come in a range of formats, including some that are super smart and very interactive.

The puzzles are a mixture of easy ones and more creative and challenging ones — they are all fun to play, although the instructions could have been much clearer. Playing on the easiest difficulty setting, we completed the main game of Awakening: The Golden Age within just under three and a half hour. That is no doubt quite a short length, but at least the game redeemed itself in the Bonus Chapter. We personally think that the Bonus Chapter of The Golden Age is even more enjoyable than the main game, featuring some of the most breathtaking scenes of the game.
